We make the science produced by the IEB publicly available,

and put the spotlight on our scientists in an attempt to awaken
curiosity in the general public about Chile’s biodiversity

Communication of science is fundamental to nurturing a society capable of critical thought and with a culture of science, and in order to foster informed decision making on the part of our country’s individuals and institutions. With this in mind, we are working on improving visibility of the science carried out by our researchers, engaging a variety of strategic audiences through activities and products that in each case make use of appropriate formats and language. This not only involves passing on knowledge about the latest advancements, but also means conveying the processes and methodologies of science, as well as the emotions, key characters and history associated with it.

We design, coordinate and conduct a variety of courses, workshops and training sessions for a range of audiences with a view to publicising our activities in the field of ecology and biodiversity. Get in touch if you’d like to team up with us to host a course or workshop, if you’re interested in participating in one, or if you’re looking for training opportunities.

Courses

Workshops

The IEB’s scientists regularly present their work to colleagues and students, and organise talks and conversations with distinguished national and international researchers.

We organise Science Cafes in La Serena, Santiago, Ancud, Punta Arenas and Puerto Williams, during which IEB scientists present subjects of interest in a relaxed environment in which people are encouraged to join in the conversation.
