Research: My research areas are related to the study of macroalgae from the Chilean subantarctic ecoregion, addressing scenarios such as the biogeographic implications of their diveristy; the study of the structure and dynamics of submarine forests of brown algae (kelps); and the effect of global change (UV-B radiation) in the Magallanes and Chilean Antarctic Region. Currently, my laboratory has active projects regarding aspects of taxonomy, ecophysiology and cultivation, oriented at re-populating endemic macroalgae. Our work is carried out in the Cape Horn Biosphere Reserve, and in the context of the implementation of the biosphere reserve, we also are involved in the consolidation of the Omora Park - Robalo Bay as a Long-Term Marine-Terrestrial Socio-Ecological Research site, linked with other sites coordinated by the Institute of Ecology and Biodiversity throughout Chile.
