This guide book enables us to know, in the field, the route that Darwin took through Cape Horn and provides many details of the trip to London of tour members of the Yaghan tribe with emphasis on some episodes of special significance for the naturalist with the Yaghans aboard. It shows the importance that the experiences Darwin had in the Cape Horn Archipelago in the development of the theory of evolution, equivalent to those that he had in the Galapagos Islands.

Thanks to the research conducted by the authors, the Magellanic subantarctic forest ecoregion has been designated as one of the 37 most virgin landscapes on the planet with special interest for ecotourism on a global level. The forests of Cape Horn are the world’s southernmost forested ecosystems and they have been free of direct human impact thanks to their geographic isolation and the fact they were protected as a military reserve controlled by the Chilean Navy.

This work has arisen from the Yaghan community, interested in conserving its culture and language, as shown in the illustrations of boys and girls from the Yaghan community.
